This lumps people with a Bachelors degree in with those who have Graduate degrees, however other that that it should be helpful. My experience (your mileage may vary) is that an advanced degree can actually hurt you when it comes to attaining mid and entry level positions. Before getting a Masters degree, first be sure you have all the relevant certifications for the field you want.

When I retire in 5 years unless I get promoted to SFC, I am intend to go back to college even though I already have a BS and a MC in CJ. I will probably need to hold a part time job. I will probably select something I can sit down at so I can read and study. With that said, I will most certainly not list all of the qualifications unless I need to for that position.

SSG (ret) William Martin My advice would be to talk to some of the Departments you are interested in and find out how you could best prepare for becoming an ideal candidate for the job you want. One consideration is going to be age, especially if they want you to go through an academy to work for them. Then there is the matter of your next retirement, are you going to meet the requirement to draw a State retirement check... I believe in Arizona it just changed to 25 years.
