I accepted a direct commission in January 2018. The appointment memo said I would receive a DD Form 1A (Officer Commission) in the mail but as of today it hasn't come.

So here is the actual answer.
How can I obtain a DD Form 1A?
A: AR 601-100, paragraph 2-13.g.(4) states that, “On receipt of DA Form 71, the relevant Army command, ASCC, or DRU commander will issue DD Form 1 (Officer’s Commissioning Certificate) to the officer.
If an Officer did not receive their commissioning certificate, they can contact the Reserve Appointments Branch, Human Resources Command - Ft. Knox at [login to see] for assistance.

This work for reserves. However, for NG I have been told they cannot help me. Does anyone have the POC for the NGB Officer Appointments Branch to request a DD Form 1A?

CPT (Join to see) - Are you active? I just called the [login to see] number and some lady told me that they only handled active duty personnel. Unless something changed on their end...I'm in the reserves...

Your BN or BDE S-1 could replicate one for you, I’d speak with them and provide them a copy of your DA71 to validate the date, time, branch and rank.

LTC James McElreath - asking the S1 professionally to do their job is not being a shit stirrer. I had great S1s along the way and hardly ever had to chase stuff like this. My promotion to Major was during Graduate school and I was a man without a country. My next unit's S1 found out I didn't have the promotion certificate and she insisted I get one. She made sure of it.

LTC Jason M,
I agree with you entirely, but someone told him to go to the Jag and outside of ones battalion is just asking for trouble. You will get to know the personnel in your unit and will get a good understanding how things work. For instance. One has easy access anyway with fellow officers and will feel your way through problems should they arise.

If you have your commissioning order, you can go to your nearest Army installation and they can prepare one for you

2LT Kyle B,
I think a heart felt congratulations is in order. Do your best to listen to your PSG and learn. Their job is to train you up to become an outstanding Capt./Company Commander. Yes, you are the officer and he/she is aware of that, just listen and learn something. They will not steer you wrong and besides you probably know when someone is full of BS. Good luck in your career in the wonderful life we all call the US Army! When you are ready to resign your Commission try to leave it a litter better than when you signed up and God Speed!

Thank you sir. Don't ever plan on resigning it, they're going to have to pry my old crusty hands off of my commission. Worked too hard as a Joe and NCO to give it up willingly!

http://expressmilitary.com/dd-1.htm This site came up to order it while searching as it is a controlled form in DOD. Looks like a commercial site I HAVE NEVER USED. Not something you really need as I never received one for 2LT and I do not think I have one for 1LT either. Good luck.

I want to avoid the commercial sites if possible. After 8yrs enlisted, wanting it is more sentimental than anything. Didn't feel like framing my DA71 lol

Something I have learned over the years is framing a lot of things equates to taking a lot of things down and repairing holes when you PCS. Not downplaying the achievement but even at one point I had my basic training photo on the wall. Six PCS later, I think I will care about my last DD1 and go back to what my first NCOIC in JROTC taught me, it is the quality of the job you do not the rank you wear. That was 29yrs ago and I do believe he was right. Just my two cents and I know not something you were looking for in the original post.
