You can try, however do not think that a telephone/internet bill falls within their "Helping families in need meet the cost of shelter, food, utilities and health expenses" statement. You can google "does the American Legion help vets with bills?" - and all kinds of links will pop-up.

I was able to email the local headquarters in Anchorage. The Department Adjutant forwarded my email to the individuals at the local posts that may be able to help.

Many VSOs have emergency funds but, just as LTC (Join to see) stated, I seriously doubt that phone and internet would fall under the category of necessity.

Try the patriot guard help on the home front grants. Also look into SSVF grants. These grants are given to nonprofit groups to help pay bills if your in arrears.
