Does anyone know what the USAR TPU Cyber branch VTIP is looking for from potential cyber officers?

I spotted this conversation a bit late so not sure if you still need assistance. I'm an USAR TPU with the NCR CPC, where all our officers (WOs and enlisted) are transitioning to 17 series. I can put you in touch with my officers that are already transitioned or still waiting for the next boarding of packets. We've been in the process going hard at it since the start of the current fiscal year.

Thanks for the help, I submitted my packet with no help. I don't know if my packet is good enough. FYI, the board will release the results on Friday.

I'll send you a few documents I have along with a few POCs that have successfully been picked up through the VTIP boarding. The main feedback we've received in the past is primarily due to a lack of complete packets for one reason or another. They (the board) kept changing what we needed in the packet every few months so keeping up with the changes was a hurdle in itself. My S3 OIC that has been processing the packets for the entire unit had commented that there were over 100 packets in for the board that is releasing the results this Friday. You're in a very competitive field currently. The ones in my unit that have been transitioning have been stacking their IT certifications and doing as many of the pre-requisite courses as possible. A majority have already been through CCTC and CPT Methodologies, 2 of the core courses of the training. It would help if your goal is to get into a 17 slot to contact my sister battalion, the SW CPC based out of San Antonio if you're still in that area (One of my previous AD units fell under 470th MI for a while.)

Sir, I was selected by the board so I might be able to assist you. I agree with MAJ Walker, security-related certification are helpful. I believe your Masters in Information Assurance and Computer Science will get you selected. A letter of recommendation from a Brigade Commander or higher will also go a long way. Good luck.
