I just got confirmed for MIBOLC this year on May 10. Does anyone know when I'll get the welcome packet or who I should contact to get squared away? I'm planning on driving down there and want to be prepared for my time there.
Thanks!

First things first yoummand as well as your training NCO that put you in for the school. Depending if you went OCS or if you were ROTC, that is who is going to dictate who scheduled you for the school. As far as driving there, that is the wisest choice since it allows you to get around without having to use a rental car or share one with others. I watch other classmates have to share a vehicle and that was a pain in the ass. Do you have a report date yet? If so and it’s coming up soon then I would definitely suggest reaching out to the school house as they will be able to tell you what class number you are going to be part of and any other information you may need to know.
As far as Billeting, depending on when your report date is he’s going to dictate your level of urgency to get scheduled. I myself as well as a lot of the other officers were able to stay off post either and hotels that are right out the front gates and are used to military and basically except your monthly BAH as the payment, whereas others went together and rented houses which again the homeowners are aware of and do quite often. In some cases students will coordinate with incoming students to allow them to transition into the house.
If there’s any other questions you have, please feel free to ask and I’ll try to point you in the best direction I can. Like I said it’s been quite a few years since I was last there but I imagine not too much has changed. Also get prepared for the do not drink and drive speech about 1 million times because people oddly enough, especially those with high security clearances get stupid and drink and drive there and Arizona is a no refusal State. If I recall correctly they will place you under arrest at the time of refusal and take you in, at which time they will get authorization to either take blood or get urine. You get busted for drinking and driving/DUI/DWI and kiss your clearance and spot in that school house goodbye instantly Along with meetings with people with a hell of a lot more brass than you.
On a sidenote, it’s a cool place and the weather is awesome during the summertime, especially in the evenings and with most all weekends off you can sit back and chill in the pool most the time or do other stuff however there will be some times when you’re going to have to meet with classmates for projects but that’s to be expected.
