Does anyone know where to find additional information pertaining to the Master Leader Course program, other than the current articles online?

I just completed the first course out of validation phase. That translates to mean it's not a pilot and you can fail, so it's live. The plans for it are to take this next year to train up the people like me who will be facilitating the course, then in FY18 it becomes a STEP requirement. It's designed for SFCP. The intent is to bridge the gap between the tactical platoon SGT and the operation NCO on BN or BDE and higher staff.

It's not meant to be a 1SG course, you will encounter nothing to do with being a 1SG. The problem isn't Soldiers knowing the tactical side, it's them knowing the operations side of the house. It's different than battle staff and fills the gap much better. It's challenging and delivered in a different instructional format than any other NCOPD you've had.

SGM Billy Herrington - MSG Herrington, thanks for the reply and the insight about the course. While at the course, did they give any guidance for your peers (SFCp and MSGs) that won't be afforded to opportunity to attend MLC? According to briefings I've attended, individuals selected and/or promoted prior to FY 18 won't have the option of attending. What recommendations would you give to those not able to attend MLC?

No recommendation or guidance really. It won't be required if you're grandfathered. To bridge the knowledge gap go to battle staff and take the SEJPME II course. They will help. If you're unable to attend as a MSG, which I'll tell you as a chief instructor if I have an open seat in one of my 11 series courses and a person is eligible to attend I'll walk them in, prep for the sergeants major course.

This course has zero to do with being a 1SG and everything to do with preparing the SFCP for future staff assignments and strategic thinking.
