Does it make a difference if my degree is from a For Profit or a Non-Profit college?

For the past 2 1/2 years I have been trying to get my Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management from Grantham University. I've only been using my army tuition assistance, that is why it's been taking me so long to finish it. Anyways, I have about a year left somebody you know until I get my degree but I have been wondering if I should finish my degree at a regionally accredited nonprofit university. The reason is because I've been hearing a lot that for-profit colleges aren't that great when I graduate tries to find a career. This isn't something I've been thinking about on my own, but rather research I've been making over the past few months. Someone, please give me assistance on what I should do. Should I finish my degree at the college I'm at now or try to transition to a nonprofit university and see what credits transfer with me? Don't get me wrong, I really like Grantham University and the way classes are set up and how knowledgeable each professor is. It would just be a waste to go through and get my degree at this college and not have it planned me a job somewhere after I graduate. Thank you very much.

Not to most folks. A degree is just a credential that can get you a foot in the door or an interview. Your ability to represent yourself and sell yourself seals the deal! I agree with LTC Labrador that is does need to be from an accredited college.

I echo other sentiments posted- it's the accreditation of the institution that matters. Profit or non-profit isn't a factor to worry about- see if they are an accredited university or not. If not, I would seriously consider finding another school to complete your degree requirements. You may even be stuck taking a few courses (or more) over if the credits are not transferrable. Do some research and reach out to schools to see if they will take your credits- if you find one and it has the major you are working toward- take it! Unless you are in a highly specialized degree- my opinion is that the name on the diploma isn't as important. It might matter as you continue to a graduate degree, but undergrad is simply a matter of getting it done with an institution in good standing. Good luck!

What is important is if the university you are taking classes from is accredited or not. Some of those diploma factories may grant you a degree, but it's not good anywhere because they lack accreditation.

I hate to tell you, but you have wasted your time and money. If your school is not regionally accredited. There is a high probability that it wont be accepted anywhere.

A degree is a degree but you need to check with the ACE guide and seek assistance from military education office. Does that help you?

Accreditation is most important. The name is more important when you are young and don't have a lot of work experience to offer or looking for enty level jobs. In my company we look value military experience over the name of the university, however, that's not the case in many places.
