Interesting....do you think this would happen at an off base institution....especially considering all the "activity" over the Confederate Flag recently

Remember the "I Flew 5,000 miles to Smoke a Camel" t-shirts?....bet people would have freaked out over them no-a-days.

Now place yourself in the opposite shoe. What would the reaction be if anti-Christian shirts were being displayed and sold at the PX?

Would not care.....as long as the anti Jew, anti Buddhist, etc shirts where right next to them.....long as everyone is being treated equal i tend not to care......the question is not what religion i support...the question is "is restricting sale of this item infringing on freedom of speech." I think the determining factor here is it's on a military post and there are different rules on base than off....you go to extremes on this and start asking what if selling Bible or Koran in Military Clothing Sales offends people should it be removed...after all religious (or anti religious) items are not issue items so why are we selling them in the first place....but i digress....again just wonders if folks thought this falls under protected speech....you know like many of the slogan from groups like BlackLivesMatter with their ."Pigs In a Blanket...Fry em Like Bacon" slogan....anyway moving on.

Free Speech allows bigoted speech. It allows hate speech (to a point...can't incite a riot). It allows all kinds of speech we disagree with. If it only allowed "nice" speech that we all agree with...we wouldn't need the amendment at all. No one would ever say anything more important than how nice the weather is today.
On post though, the speech (the message on the shirt) may be taken as a DOD or government position with respect to religion, where it runs up against religious liberty. Off post, the offended parties might boycott or demonstrate or even try to sue the store selling the T-shirt, but they couldn't legally put a stop to the speech.

Agree Col....the determining factor here I think is that it's on post and there are separate ROEs on a military post than at the mall.
