Drop a name - who is the best Leader/Manager/Comander you ever worked for?

At this point COL Mikel J. Burroughs as our Chairman, that makes you our leader, and even though we are working together from a distance, it has been an absolute pleasure working with you! You have great integrity and character, a leader with a backbone but fair, always reasonable and always upbeat! I would take you as my boss any day! Thank you for the inspiration!

Hands down, CPT Timothy O. Black, in command of A Co. 310th MI Battalion, 902d MI Group. That guy was intelligent, funny, and a very good leader. He easily takes the #1 slot over any other CPT I've ever worked for and I'd work for him again in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

I had the honor of working for COL Edmund J. Bowen prior to retirement. http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=69693 He was probably one of the most influential people I've met in person and he served enlisted as a GySgt, through the Warrant Ranks and as an LDO and an unrestricted officer to reach COL. The craziest thing he told me was that he was a 1st LT as an LDO and when his boss forced him to put in an unrestricted package he was commissioned as a 2nd LT (A rank lower).

My time in SF I had great mentors, then CPT John Mullholand and SGM Rodney Flack. There was CSM Sims (RIP), Group CDR COL Harley Davis, BN CDR Bill Davis. John, Rodney, Bill and I are still in phone contact.

Tough call, I was fortunate to have worked with so many super leaders, but here is a shout out to LTC Dudley-3/82FA, 1CD, 1993-1995.

Brigadier General (Australia) Stephen D. Meekin and I have to add LTC (Now Maj. Gen.) James V. (Boe) Young. Both my commanders in Iraq when I was assigned to the 203rd MIBN. They were very supportive of the religious support program. BG Meeting used to call me "Padre".

SFC Pfahlert was my bct drill. Respected the heck out of him because he lead by example. Very rarely have I met anyone that had the motivation he had.

MG Retired William E. Harmon who retired as PEO ATCCS. I first served as his XO when he commanded an MI Company as a Major. My last assignment was working for him in a major fielding program. That period spanned 1975-1994. I just had lunch with him yesterday.

wow! i'm impressed y'all can remember people from the past. if my name wasn't sewn on my uniform, i wouldn't even remembered it. lol

Sadly, I cannot pick just one that I worked for as that would be unjust... I was fortunate to have worked with a number of fine NCOs, Officers and Warrants! However, I will offer one former NCO and retired Warrant that mentored me, giving me a fine jump-start before joining the military, making the military a breeze. I owe that honor to CW3 Jim Ramge, my father. As a young man he readied me for the US Army without my knowing and without even truly pulling the “Great Santini”... I cannot put it in words really... I can never truly thank him as my career was cut short medically. That said, I honor him every chance I can, for it was his last name that I carried on my uniform for the time I served!
