How long does a Med Seperation usually take? I was deployed in Iraq for 6 months before sleep walking and anxiety became very noticeable by my command. Now I am in Kuwait and told I will be Re-deployed and possibly be having a MEB based on my medical record and Sleep study they will do on me soon.

The IDES process has been revamped recently. Expect no longer than 6 months. Realistically, once your items are submitted, it takes as long as it takes for the VA to return your ratings, which isn't long at all now.

I've seen separations from medical take a long time, could have been a year for one soldier a decade ago. And some separations can be about a decade ago...sadly I haven't seen consistency.

I can’t really tell you about the army, but in the Air Force I had a buddy who had similar issues and it took about two and a half months for his separation to go through
