Enlisting as prior service. Do you get the same options(ish) as if you were reenlisting normally? Picking duty station specifically? Bonus?

You honestly get what is available at the time of your recruitment. this conversation can be solved with talking to your local recruiter. This does not mean you have to join to get this information.

I've asked my recruiter these same questions and he basically told me the same thing. His repetitive phrase is these questions are for the people at meps.

As having enlisted after a break in service (5.5 years), i rated a bonus but that was due to when I was enlisting back into the service and choosing to go Reserve. If I went Active Duty (original intent), I would not have qualified for a bonus. So, basically the options available, choices of assignments and bonuses will all be determined by what is left after all the Initial Enlistees are processed by the Career Counselors. MEPS will have the clearer answers to your RFIs.

They have open what they have open, and you have to offer them what you have to offer them. If they are desperate and you offer a lot then the world is yours.
We are never in a better position to negotiate our value to the military than right before our current term expires and the option for us to resign or ETS is directly in front of us. This even includes services members in an over strength MOS, because at the very least they can Re-Class with an abridged MOS school and not have to take BCT all over again.
