Or, will we be able to get any in the future? (Shortages, rationing, public panic …). So what works in lieu of TP ?

CMDCM John F. "Doc" Bradshaw - Been there and done that. My Grandparents hadn't upgraded yet when I was just a kid in Washington State, we went to the outhouse and crumpled what ever was available for sanitary purposes.

SFC Terry Wilcox - Same . . . in Idaho, Lake Coeur d'Alene area. There was t.p. when the grandkids were there, usually, and what was left of the sears catalog.

I grew up in SE Ohio, we had a outhouse/backhouse, no one has posted about some of the hazards yet. When you walked in check every corner for spiders, snakes, coons, skunks. Take a quick look down the hole to make sure none of the above are waiting to bite yo in the rear. Is there enough "reading" material in stock. In the winter can you get the door open fast enough. If you can warm up the seat before you drop your long Johns or union suit. Is there enough lime to cover up your business.

SPC Gary C. Realistic description of the hazards.
Each visit to the outhouse was a process that required a habit of preparedness to avoid many types of hazards and pit falls. When we were young and small we were afraid of falling in too. Some folks will never experience the joy of truly appreciating the luxury of having a porcelain facility within one's own home.
