Hello everyone

So we are currently stationed in Germany. Absolutely LOVE it here. Background.. I am a Navy veteran & my husband is AD Army. We have 3 kids (8, 4 & 3). We just arrived here just about 7 months ago. Wow... it has gone fast.

So far we have been to Saarbrucken, Paris, Koln, Trier (today actually), and amusement parks.

We have a trip planned for Edelweiss, a cruise (Spain, Malta & Italy), and Prague next year.

What are your favorite places you've been in Europe?

Kid friendly recommendations?

SN Jennifer M., I was stationed in Kaiserslautern from 1980 to 1983. They said at that time it was the largest American "city" outside the USA.

Edelweiss (in Garmisch, I assume) is the tops in my opinion. What a beautiful place for a vacation or just a long weekend. I've heard good things about Legoland Deutschland (http://www.legoland.de/en/), but I've never been there myself.

We have heard great things with Legoland as well! When it starts warming up again we will probably go.

Graduated from High School in Germany--stationed in Europe 7+ times (Belgium, France, Italy)...I vote GARMISH by far the best location...there are many places in Europe worth visiting, including places most Americans never go, such as Zagreb. Hungary is also terrific.

PS--my last assignment was Ktown...close enough to France to visit my mother's people there and in Italy....the flea market at Metz is very close and worth visiting, as are the memorials in Verdun....Longwy France is also a good view of several countries at one time! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g1080347-Longwy_Meurthe_et_Moselle_Lorraine-Vacations.html

I am certainly going to go to the flea market in France as soon as I have the courage to take all three of my kids.
