I have great respect and admiration for K-9 handlers and their service dogs. I remembered seeing a story in the week after 9/11 about the dogs. About what walking across the debris field was doing to their paws, about the effect of not finding living survivors had on them, about the long hours each dog put in. Today I looked them up to see if there were any stories. I found this one about the last living 9/11 rescue dog. http://www.boredpanda.com/last-9-11-rescue-dog-birthday-party-new-york-bretagne-denise-corliss/

I just assumed that they are dead by now.  Kinda dark but it has been a while in dog years.

CPT (Join to see) Heroes come in many forms and sizes. Dogs are sentient. So there are good dogs, bad dogs....heroic dogs.

Just like humans.
