I've been getting flu shots for years. About every fifth year or so, I get sick, in spite of the shot. I've been pretty lucky, however, warding off the full-blown flu by drugging myself up and drowning in Vitamin C and chicken soup! But is the flu shot all that it's cracked up to be? This article was a huge eye-opener for me!!!

When your nearly 70, your body can't fight the Flu as easy as it could when your under 40

That's why the bulk of "flu related" deaths are in older folks. No worries though, they doubled the flu shot for seniors this year... If I weren't such a skeptic, I'd think they're trying to kill off our seniors faster.

PVT Kevin Simpson they are trying to get rid of the elderly. Just be careful. If they can't tell you what's in the shot don't get it. I don't trust anything if I don't know what's in it.

Sgt Joy Cameron - I absolutely agree!! My family doesn't do shots, period. There are a myriad of natural & scientifically proven more effective ways to combat the flu than the shot, without ANY side effects.

The flu shots are available for vets at Walgreens Drugs. The VA won't pay for the "Senior's" vaccine though, only for the one for everyone else. As a senior (67 years old) I feel that I should be able to get the "Senior" flu shot. I did get the one they would pay for though, but felt I was getting screwed over on that deal. The other option was to drive the 96 mile round trip to the VAMC and get the shot. Just my .02.

Be grateful they won't pay for it... just doubling up on the poison to get rid of y'all faster. Vitamin C, sunshine (or vitamin D if you're not in the south), and a healthy diet will do FAR more to prevent the flu than the shot.

LTC Kate Lyons Zentar - You're gonna think I'm gross for this, but we don't wash our hands unless they're dirty. Like literally have dirt (or something) on them. Everything has a natural flora & fauna and when you mess with that balance things get wonky. Washing your hands like crazy not only kills some of the bad bacteria, but often a lot of the good ones that are fighting the bad ones. Don't get me wrong, I try my damnedest to not touch things in the bathroom, or things that I KNOW are gross & germ filled, but yep hands only get washed about once a day. I'm a firm believer in "germs make you healthy."

Every fall, most Americans are strongly urged to get flu shots. Medically speaking, how effective are the vaccines?

I’m told the flu shot this year is only 30-40% effective because the virus mutates from year to year. So I play the odds and don’t get shot.

God did a tremendous job on creating us without the need for the government’s poison.

I get the flu shot (almost) every year. I know it doesn't prevent all flu by a long shot, but it does help some of the time. There is little down side to getting the shot and it might just help. I got my 2017-2018 season shot this past afternoon. Now I hope I get through another flu season with little or no flu symptoms.

You'd be surprised to find that the bulk of new claims to the VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) are due to flu shots, not to mention the actual money paid out by the VICP (Vaccine Injury Compensation Program) to flu shot injured people. *This is taxpayer money too*
Here's a good article to read about the flu shot- https://articles.mercola.com/flu-shot-side-effects.aspx

effective rate between 40 to 60% seem worth it if you do the best you can to avoid human congested areas whenever possible, beats large medical bill if you have to visit the ER or get sick enough to be hospitalize.

Every time I got the flu shot in the military I got sick. Haven't had the shot since 09'. Haven't gotten sick anymore. That shot is poison.
