Yeah, I know, you've all told me that I'm never going to get into any branch of the military with only one kidney. The Army has already disqualified me and now I'm in the middle of trying to enlist in the Air Force. People keep telling me that I have no chance of joining, but I'm making more progress than you've all expected. My recruiter has my medical papers and he knows all about my one kidney. And yet, he didn't turn me down and give me an automatic disqualification. He said I can go take the ASVAB, which I took today and scored a 94 on, and then he said that he'll send my scores down to be looked at so that I can be considered for MEPS.

So....when does this so-called "automatic disqualification" show up, because I ain't seeing it. I took the ASVAB, scored high on it, and now I'm being considered for MEPS. And what happens when my recruiter says I'm in the clear for MEPS? What happens when I pass the physical and MEPS lets me swear in? What happens when they notice that my one kidney doesn't impede me in any way? Chances are you all will still be saying "You're never gonna get in! You're disqualified!"

I honestly just typed this up because I like that I'm proving you guys wrong so far. I've made it farther than any of you have anticipated and I'm just the type of guy who likes to rub things in.

Why all the anger? If you get in you get in. If you don't it's not the end to your life aspirations. You'll find other channels of interest as you travel down the corridors of life. Be HAPPY, and let the anger just go.

Not to be "that guy", but one, you're here amongst thousands of veterans, a great many of them combat tested and hardened...stay in your lane recruit. 2, also not to be "that guy", you're still a civilian...I know we have civvies here, but remember, you aren't "one of the guys"...yet. so, back to my first response, stay in your lane. You're in a world that you do not understand yet. A good many vets here have you and advise, don't rub it in any further. That attitude will get you absolutely nowhere in the military, except for corrective adjustment, and harsh handling. Learn some respect boy.

I only knew one soldier in my military career with one kidney and this is because he lost the other in combat.

....and when this article pops up, and it will, you can be charged with fraudulent enlistment. Good luck

Team players wouldn’t be concerned about rubbing it in. You sound like more of a loner, go it your way kinda guy. The military, any branch is all based off of teamwork. When the team succeeds, you succeed. Try less, in your face and more how can WE make this happen. You might get farther and have less conflict doing it.

Being as you are NOT in the military , WHY are you on this site ? I was under the impression that this was an active duty , retired or veterans site intended to inspire communication between all ranks and branches not a forum for wannabes and neverwills.

SPC Terry Williamson We also have potential recruits, spouses of military members and civilian supporters. Most of our civilians add value to RallyPoint, and we are able to steer potential recruits in the right direction.
