I seriously have a hard time waiting for the new Wildlands game to come out. The visuals look amazing and if it truly is open world, similar to the original, the game should be amazing. Provided its not as 'realistic' as Operation Flash Point series. Reading about hte game and how you can build relationships with NPC's seems really cool.
I have been a fan of the series for over 10 years since the first game came out in 2001 (I believe). So many times I would sit down and play the original, along with the awesome expansions for it; Desert Siege, Island Thunder, and Jungle Storm. I still play them from time to time now as I love the gameplay and so can ignore the dated graphics. GR 2 wasn't as great, but still enjoyable. The series almost lost me with Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2. Future Soldier was okay but reminded me too much of CoD or MoH, which were too arcade for my taste. GR seemed more real to me.
I've been wanting to play the free-to-play Phantoms but haven't got around to it yet. ANy thoughts from anyone who has played it?

I loved the original game and the expansion packs too! Is the gameplay for Badlands supposed to be the same or is it more first person shooter hopefully not?,,,

MSG (Join to see) If my reading is correct, it's not meant to be strictly a FPS like Advanced Warrior. There are suppossed to incorporate more tactical side similar to the original game. But it has some additional style to it whereas you have to talk with locals and informants to gain their trust and whatnot.
Personally, I have found that shooters have fallen a bit over the past decade thanks in part to arcade style shooters being easy to play with autoaim and spray and pray like CoD and MoH. I miss the heavy tactical shooters like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, SWAT, etc. I still believe the original GR with an updated graphics engine and todays AI would be an amazing game. The original GR and Rainbow Six Ravenshield are by far 2 of my top 10 games of all time.
