F-35 vs A-10 a silly exercise?!? What is your opinion?

Gen Welsh says that a reported exercise pitting the F-35 against the A-10 is a silly, futile exercise because of the F-35's capabilities. I would think that if they want to kill the criticism of replacing a beast with a new bird that the proponents would want this exercise in order to show that it would be capable of doing it.

Perhaps the heads don't want it to occur because it would show the F-35's incapability to do what the A-10 does?
