Later this month, I'll be loading up the Family Truckster and making my way to Fairchild AFB, WA and the 92 ARW. I'm looking very forward to being an active part of the mission, community and team there, especially after having been away from the AMC community for so long. My question is for my teammates already there: what should I absolutely do, read, learn about, or know before arriving at Fairchild AFB? What conversations matter to you and how can I be an active participant? Thanks for your time and advice--see you soon!

Hello Colonel! To really get involved in Spokane, you should get in touch with (ret) Cololonel Brian Newberry. He was our wing king 4 years ago, and is now the Executive Director of Leadership Spokane. He is a great guy and a great airman.

Col Matthew Fritz The 4th of July celebration in downtown Spokane is among the best in the country for the entire family. While I am not currently there I was there from 95-99 in the 92MS/92LG and went back in 2002 just for the 4th.

If you live off base the south hill is appealing but is very treacherous in winter.

Lots of outdoor fun year round. Hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. Outdoor concerts in George, Washington. It is a natural amphitheater on the Columbia River and attracts major musical acts.

If you're going to buy a vehicle go to Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, Idaho.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
