This video was sent to us by a lady out of the Reno, Nevada area. This guy was walking around pretending he was a Marine. When asked for his name he responded that, "He was on High Alert, and couldn't give that out."
He then said he was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, which have been deactivated sine 1970. The Marines do have a 26th MEU(Marine Expeditionary Unit), but it doesn't have a 3rd Battalion.
He was trying to get a discount on or a free venue for his wedding using the claims.

Just let it go! Most "posers" have mental health problems and it benefits no one to call him out. If he is trying to access benefits reserved for active duty members or veterans simply ask for a military ID or VA card. If he refuses then ask him to leave or call the police!

A Marine would NEVER be out in public in his/her utility (work) uniform. It is strictly prohibited.

Those are the cammie I wore from 79 - 88. I'm 56yrs. Old and I was talking to a friend of mine, she's a sgt 1st class in the Army. When I told her I was a Field radio Operator when I enlisted. I actually gave her the wrong designation number, I told her 2531 which is aviation Ordnance. 2542 was the proper designation for jumping that prc- 77. I don't know if they still use that model these days. So it's possible to mistaken things as time goes on. Or squadrons and units and ships are decommissioned over time. So cut the guy a break.

If you see someone sporting a uniform, pretending to be someone they're not, by all means, try and correct them. Stop trying to be a YouTube sensation. Have we not already had cases involving legitimate veterans being accused of stolen valor, simply because some young buck service member with less time in service than some of our boots thought they were bad ashes? Not saying that's the case here, but we should be professional when trying to correct what could be stolen valor. Why? Because were better than thatn

I understand that emotions can run high but we are professionals. We should conduct are selves as such in public. There is nothing to gain by causing a seen call him out if he is wrong but you will never know his story. So please us discretion. That person may just need help.

As people have commented this man is touched one way or the other mental issues or self induced by intoxicates.
But did anyone else hear her slip up and say my boyfriend and my hus...err friends serve....
I found the slip up strange. And after that just annoyed how she was going off on the guy.

Upon retirement with an Honorable Discharge you are allowed to wear the uniform. My grandson asks me to do so every Veterans Day at his school. Others do so as well. The students ask guestions about our service and the duties involved.Korea to the present are represented. Not all that wear an older uniform are frauds.

I spent over 20 yrs in the Army and don't have the ability to get that bent out of shape over stolen valor. I know what I did and that's all that matters.
