This video was sent to us by a lady out of the Reno, Nevada area. This guy was walking around pretending he was a Marine. When asked for his name he responded that, "He was on High Alert, and couldn't give that out."
He then said he was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines, which have been deactivated sine 1970. The Marines do have a 26th MEU(Marine Expeditionary Unit), but it doesn't have a 3rd Battalion.
He was trying to get a discount on or a free venue for his wedding using the claims.

That chick reminds me of dependents that expect you to salute them. He should have told her to go pound sand.

Maybe he is so far out of uniform that it is like a parody and who gets upset with someone who is obviously mentally ill like one guy said above in this thread. I would feel guilty and ashamed to act like she did. She is no veteran so she can take her salty language and You tube acct and stick them some place dark... lol

Everyone is trying to be a social media hero. If I were to see someone like this I might calmly engage them in conversation and ask them about their service. I might even point out some of the flaws in their story to them. I wouldn't video it and put the exchange on youtube. After a little bit of conversation with these people it's usually pretty easy to determine they aren't all there or they wouldn't be doing what they are doing. This woman in the video is just trying to make herself look like a hero. Too many of these people out there trying to call people out for the wrong reasons. I've had friends who have been questioned who I know are retired veterans. One of them recently was on his way to a memorial day ceremony I was playing taps for, and he was wearing his old uniform, and someone stopped him to tell him that wasn't a current uniform and he shouldn't be wearing it. Of course his response was "It was the uniform I wore when I served, and I"m on my way to a ceremony to honor my fallen comrades, would you like to join me? ". Of course they declined to attend the service.

Please pardon my language here. While this poor guy may be crazier than a $hithouse rat, he is still sharp enough to choose the Marine Corps. LOL It is a shame to see people such as this man not getting the medical treatment he so desperately needs. While I appreciate and applaud those folks out there who honor us by defending our valor so vigorously, I cannot help thinking that no true Marine would have responded in such a fashion as she did. I would like to believe that my brothers and sisters would have been more compassionate in similar circumstances. That having been said, if he was not mentally challenged and it was me, I would have left him in his skivies lumped up and leaking. It would not be the first time that I have divested someone of USMC insignia they had not earned the right to wear.

A "lady," using the language she delivered in her challenge and response to the man? The language is uncalled for and the woman should have measured her tone and method of delivery. I agree with many; that the man exhibited mental issues. The woman could not control her own issues.

Stolen valor or not, I lost interest the minute this civilian starts spewing "my boyfriend blah blah blah." I love when civvies start spewing garbage like they're some freaking expert because their "boyfriend, friend, neighbor's sister's cousin" was in the military. Unless YOU put on a uniform & served, STFU you armchair expert. Those people annoy me to no end. The guy sounds like he has some issues now whether it's mental or substance, I'm not gonna sit here & play expert like I know exactly what's going on. Little Army girlfriend there just needs to shut up & go on her merry way.

It is dumb shit, people looking for trouble or trying to determine if this person is a fake, obviously something was not right, instead of trying to prove you are right, for your selfish ego why not keep and eye on him make sure he is in safe hands
