There's a ton of great content out there dealing with military subject matter (training / operations-related, motivational, entertaining & educational, historical, etc.); the idea is to have a fun and thought-provoking discussion, and to learn a thing-or-two while we're at it. If you can remember details but not the title; no worries, just post a description, and we'll activate the RP network to help find it. Here we'll discuss those defining sources that influence us, our culture, as well as public perception and opinion... sort of a representation of the "art-imitates-life, life-imitates-art" concept. Well, there's certainly some memorable content out there, I have my favorites and I'm sure that that you all do too. So, strap on your seatbelts, pull-up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Restrepo because it is a non-political, honest view of the middle of OEF.

So many to chose from!  Gettysburg, Heartbreak Ridge, and Ken Burns' Civil War are probably my top three.  Kelly's Heroes and The Patriot probably round out my top five.  Honorable Mention: "Patton"

If you can watch "Making the Cut" and not be motivated you should not reenlist!

It doesn't show it all of course, but it will give you a new perspective on what these guys go through to earn their positions in our SOF units. Really opens your eyes, as far as, our sister services that we dont see on a daily basis.

FYSA it is on netflix season 1 and 2.

Hands down, Band of Brothers. I enjoyed that miniseries because it showed how tight a military unit can become.

Cpl Cox.

Most Excellent!!!  Absolutely Outstanding Dramatic Video Series!!!

See Episode 9 "Why We Fight" Liberation of Concentration Camp.

My mother survived Terezinstadt.  This had me crying for hours.

This episode carries important message about why we help others.

Band of Brothers was an exceptional and deeply meaningful series.

Warmest Regards, Sandy

These two movies were also very memorable to me as well, as I was "military aged" when they were released or most popular, good call on both, thanks for sharing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue8VS-bcj88

Platoon came out when I was 17 or 18 years old. I thought I was doing a good thing when I rented it for my dad to watch, because he had been in Vietnam and I thought he would be interested. He watched it from literally the edge of his seat, never spoke once, and had tears in his eyes most of the time. I had no understanding of what he went through in Vietnam until that day. He was later diagnosed with an extremem case of PTSD, and I have always felt bad that I rented that video for him. I just didn't have a clue.

Peter Arnet and crew did one I think it is called the 1000 day war about Vietnam. Wouldn't mind seeing those with a fresher perspective.
