Junior enlisted typically get their pinpoints at the Replacement Center at Yongsan. As an HR specialist, there is a good probability you may remain at Yongsan, but it will depend mostly on the needs of the Army. While Yongsan is good duty, seeing as it's in Seoul, Cp Henry isn't that bad either. That's in Daegu if I'm not mistaken.

PFC (Join to see) - You may not already know this, but the way the Army does assignments is by putting a name against an authorized open (or projected to open) slot on a unit mTOE. They may have filled all the available open slots with your classmates, and by the time they got to your name, there may not have been any open slots left. Like I said, if they have pinpoints and you don't, it could either mean a) you are staying at Yongsan or b) they are waiting to see if there are any last minute holes that open up between now and the time you report.

PV2 Heather Kenward. If you have received your orders, that means you have done your sponsorship request. You should have recieved information from a sponsor. All personnel coming in country will arrived in Yongsan to inprocess theater. Depending on mission strength, you will be sent to where you are needed. I am on my third tour to Korea. I understand that you wish to remain in Yongsan, but it may not be the case. Not necessarily just because you have a pinpoint assignment mean you will automatically go there.
To the the comment that everyone goes to Casey/Hovey is inaccurate. All personnel go through Yongsan and then are farmed out from that point across the pennisula.
Also PV2 Kenward. It you have a smartphone down the this app. It is called "Penn Around". This app has a wealth of useful information for you to use.

SFC Ocie Conner - Have they moved (or talked about moving) reception to Humphreys yet. Yongsan is "supposed" to close in a few more years....

LTC Paul Labrador, currently USAG-Yongsan is schedule to push to Humphreys in efforts to facilitate the big move. This should occur this summer. As far as the other TACOMs and MACOMs I believe that is still a few years out.

Because the unit that you are going to haven't decided yet where to place you. Let's hope they let you stay in Yongsan.

As a 42A you might be assigned to the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. They arrive and do initial inprocess all new arrivals to 8th Army/Korea. They are HQed at Camp Henry, but there is a unit at Yongsan, right next to the Dragon Hill Lodge.
You will likely do your first week at Camp Casey/Hovey doing inprocessing stuff.

Well it's really easy to travel in Korea so wherever you go make sure you see it all. I miss Korea so much.

PFC (Join to see) - If others' orders in your class say Camp Henry and yours says Yongsan, they must have already pinpointed you and your class.

They can change your orders because maybe the slot you were going to is filled so they will put you where they need you.

Your ERB should reflect where you are going, if it says something to the effect of 8A REPL you will probably be staying in Yongsan, if it says another unit you will probably be going elsewhere.

As a junior enlisted there is no such thing as pinpoint orders. You can have orders for the past 3-4 months saying your going to Camp Henry, and you get to Replacement and the assign you to Yongsan. That's why its called replacement, your replacing someone who left or is leaving. The Army tries to project need and fill those slots; but as you will soon find out plans change. Be flexible and enjoy the ride.
Yongsan is nice but it's a pain without a car and quite honestly it's overcrowded. Camp Henry is small and it's an easy bus ride or taxi (5 min) to Camp Walker for PX and commissary. Daegu is a city of 2.5 million so plenty to do. Best thing is the climate no snow in the winter.

If you really want yours to read like the other 17 then ask one of those 17 if they want something different. Typically there is someone wanting to trade. It's just asking your NCO to work G-1/HRC to see if you can make that happen. The only thing that might stop it at PV2 is if you have a special clearance or language perhaps.

It has been my experience that assignment managers don't want to talk to junior enlisted Soldiers. Now once you become a NCO, they are more willing to work with you on assignments. But even then, if they need you somewhere, that's where you're going.

Yeah i always love the speech "it's your career, take control of it" that you get from the command team, when HRC calls me as a courtesy for Senior NCOs and I tell them that their priority 1 job they want me to serve isn't going to make my career better and it's not the "next step", they get mad and put me on orders to Korea so far out that they dont have end strength projection of force for my CMF there...
Kenward, call your HRC rep. Your local NCO should help you get the number, but don't expect to get a reasonable answer. Your HRC is there to work for you, like in any job, make them do their work.
