For a prior-service who is enlisting, what comes first, a grade determination or MOS selection?

Go to MEPs, phys, then do grade determimation, then go back to MEPs, get job, enlist. In that order, I am working 2 prior service as we speak.

You won't find out at MEPS, in order to do a grade determination, a full physical has to be submitted. Business rules are only a guide. E4 most likely you will get your job, or a change is you want. E5, it's going to be whatever is open the day you sit in the chair with the counselors at MEPS the second time. Business rules will give you general guidance, but the bottom line of the business rules says,"needs of the Army", and that's usually where everything falls

So if I got out as an E5 I can choose to re enlist as an E4 if I don't ask for a grade determination? Or, do I have to do a grade determination no matter what?

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Ok, the recruiter is telling me that I have no options but to choose an MOS in the SGT rank and that I can't choose anything out of my rank. I have not been to MEPS yet to even have a grade determination done

Grade determination. MOS selection won't be until after the MEPS physical and you meet the Guidance Counselor. You will have to be mentally, morally, and medically qualified before enlistment or re-enlistment. Best of luck!

With respect to enlisting as prior service, what comes first in the process? I am looking at getting back in. I was an E-5 when I got out, but I will probably end up coming back as an E-4. My MOS options are different based on the PS business rules for E-4 versus E-5. So, since I was an E-5 when I got out, am I likely to have the E-4 MOS options? Or the E-5 options?

Email him. He is the prior service accessions personnelist who directly reports to the CG at USARC. He approved waivers..etc. per his words " army doesn't promote but neither demote"....
He's a power guy in a powerful position for prior service applicants

I'm having the same issues. i got out out an E5 but I'm wanting to go back in as E4 because that has the MOS that I want. The recruiter won't allow me to do that. He stated to me that I had to go in as E5 because that's what I got out as
