Any 35M's out there that got Spanish for DLI? Was wondering what your experience may have been/be like? Much appreciated

I went to DLI many moons ago to learn Spanish - I was already familiar with German and Thai. I wanted Chinese or Korean, but the Army gods chose Spanish for me. That said, I do not expect that you will be billeted with the SF guys like I was, but from what I recall - those with good language skills were able to spend a lot of time at the beach while those that had troubles had to spend more time studying. Be sure to take some time to see the sites out there too/ lots to do and see; I suspect that hasn't changed. And if you get airborne school written into your contract, I'm certain you will spend some time at Bragg.

Seems like you had a pretty cool experience. I know Spanish will at the very least, be very useful when I’m back in the US. They mentioned having opportunities for airborne but I’m not counting on anything.

Mitchell Silcox there are plenty of airborne huminters. If you want to jump out of airplanes, right now is one of the few opportunities to leverage your wants against what the Army needs. Be adamant about your wants before signing anything. I've got a bit of experience, so feel free to ask questions. Good luck

Unfortunately I already signed and swore in at Meps. Just waiting on my official swear in and sign at meps before I ship. Not super bummed about not getting airborne, but if I ever got the opportunity I would absolutely take it. I’m in good shape so I will be working hard to get a slot if they ever tell me one would be available based on pt scores.
