Recently, a policy letter has been released making Sexual Orientation one of the now six protected categories in the Equal Opportunity Policy. Transgender is still not covered under EO, but is more seen as a medical issue. This is a great thing, as we evolve in today's armed forces. Our job as Leaders is to adapt and overcome, and accept the challenges that are set before us. I already know that some of us have religious concerns regarding the matter, but I see it in this manner: if you had a child that turned out to have a sexual orientation you didn't agree with, would you turn him away? Some may not agree with this, but we are all soldiers in one fight, straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, or whichever other I may have missed. As I have mentioned above, it's time to adapt and overcome, time to learn, accept, challenge ourselves in learning a new culture.
