So I was doing some digging online, and I discovered that my unit was awarded the Army Superior Unit Award for the mission the unit did in Kosovo in 2006. Where do I start to get a Streamer for the guidon?

If you contact the Institute of Heraldry, they will be able to provide the full lineage and honors for your unit. With that in hand as a supporting document, you order the streamer through supply channels. Check out AR 840-10.
DD Form 1348-6.

I am confused as to why your organization is not submitting the request. In order to earn it they had to nominate with the appropriate paperwork and information, like any award it starts at unit level, next higher HQ. The S1 should have all of this available to them from the Division, or the state depending on unit affiliation.

Because those that were in the unit during that mission, no one was notified. In fact, the prior Detachment Sergeant was on that Kosovo mission and he knew nothing about it.

It is truly an unfortunate thing. I've seen this many times before, a unit is awarded a unit citation on CAGO orders but nothing goes to a Soldiers file. Most often the individual Soldier will know nothing of the award unless there is word on the grapevine.
This is how I found out about 2 medals after Desert Storm.
I have done research at the Institute of Heraldry about these unit awards, it states in the documentation that nothing will go to the individual.
Some units have been proactive and have typed up a certificate of award for unit members.
It's good there are Soldiers who are actually interested in the military history and want to research this SSG Livingston

My unit is trying to figure this out right now. We were awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation for our deployment to Iraq in 2009 and there's almost no one left from that deployment in the unit now. The ones that are weren't even aware we were awarded it.
We found the orders through HRC, and we've been put in for another MUC by higher so we're trying to figure the streamers out now that we're tracking.
