I have noticed that the promotion boards are being pushed back further and further. With the FY15 SFC Board Results still being pending 3 weeks from the start of FY16, I question how this will play out in the next few years. We've managed to incrementally push them back almost an entire year [they used to be held at the beginning of the FY] ...I just have to wonder if we'll have to rectify this by not holding a board one year. I know it sounds far-fetched, but I was just curious to see if anyone else had wondered the same or had experience in the past [only because I know some old timers have experienced things like Army-wide pay stoppages ...something a lot of people think can "never happen"].

I believe the results will be out before Oct 2015 but we all must realize there are more E6 in position to be looked at then any other board. The MSG picked up more secondary zone personnel in my mos then in the primary. I believe it was 52 and 17 in primary. To me it seems the QMP is making drastic changes to are ranks. All we can do is pray for the best. And hope we don't find ourself on that list. Good luck all

SSG (Join to see) its common, happen to me on active duty. They got the results, they are screening them for QSP/QMP. I was told this by a former CSM who sat on the MSG board of FY14. Just my opinion.

SSG Alyssa Vasquez,

There are many things changing that lead to the change in centralized promotion boards. HRC is trying to line up the Command Selection List boards for officers and enlisted at similar times so the results can be released closer together. This will allow those command teams to link up before they take over potentially. It does not always work that way, but I know they were trying it.
Now since HRC holds boards constantly over the entire year, one change in boards will lead to many. Also we are "down-sizing" the military, which means we can slow down the process for boards. Currently, we have Soldiers who have been selected on boards waiting one, if not two, years to actually pin their rank. As we level out in those MOS's, time to pin on their rank will quicken. Actually skipping a board during an FY is a possibility as well. That happened to me for my first SFC look. I had just missed the cutoff for a board and the next one was held 19 months later. It can happen but only time will tell if it does.
I hope this answers some of your questions or concerns.

I appreciate your input, SGM ...and that is exactly what I was looking for. Everyone likes to speculate, so it is settling to have a more definitive answer -regardless of what that may be.
As is always the most preferred practice, better to stay prepared than to try to play catch up after the hammer drops.

Also, I must say that it is pretty encouraging to know you faced similar frustration, and have gone on to progress to such high levels.

Thank you again, SGM.

And the offer is always out there SSG (Join to see) to review records. I feel I can speak for most CSM/SGM's out there, that we are more than happy to help an NCO with their records. You just have to want it.
