Went on leave and ****ed up BIG! Smoked weed and failed my drug test. Yes I know I’m a dumbass and my career is over. What can I expect? Dishonorable or general or other than honorable?
I heard dishonorable comes only with felony things.

I can speculate that you will receive an OTH. However, that is speculation. And that is all that anyone here on RP can tell you. Granted, our speculations are based on years of experience. That being said, your Commander has the ability to recommend what type you get from OTH up to Honorable (don't expect this one) because anything worse than an OTH is given via Courts Martial. The approving authority with take the recommendation of your Commander and make a final decision of their own. May the odds be ever in your favor.

How bad do you want in or out of the military? How bad to you want to stay in? Have you had a heart to heart with your Commander about options? Fix this if possible before separating.

If I want to stay in he will understand but if my commander looks at this as me “trying to escape and get out” it can be considered malingering couldn’t it?

SPC (Join to see) Speak your truth and go from there. Don’t assume what the Commander will think until your meeting. A Commander will consider other totality of the circumstances and your overall character, duty performance, etc.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Is it possible to be discharged? Absolutely (you’re looking at general or OTH) but it’s quite possible to be retained. You should be command referred to ASAP, but if you’re not go self enroll into it. Show that you’re willing to get help and still work hard as an asset to the team. I have seen many Soldiers stay in for failing a drug test, but it’s all about willingness to learn from your mistake and continuation to work that will set you apart. Also as someone stated, talk to TDS.

Add one more thing. I am not your commander and he does have the option to discharge you without taking your past body of work and your initiative into play. But a good chain of command should take everything into consideration.
