Well, that depends on where you got the DUI....when you got the DUI.....
To put it this way.....as a SGT/E5 type, this can be survivable. If you were a SSG and got a DUI, you would certainly face the QMP and NOT be retained. Now, on to your question. If you got the DUI recently, and got it on base, you will certainly face UCMJ, get flagged, and lose your "P" if you had one. If you didn't have the "P" you are still getting flagged and won't be seeing the promotion board any time soon. If you got it off base, you're probably going to still get some sort of UCMJ, get flagged and not see the promotion board any time soon. Expunged? Probably not going to happen if you were arrested and found guilty of the charge.
So...can you still make SSG? Sure. It'll be a long hard road to get you there....but it's gonna be a long, rocky and bumpy drive

No need to rehash the responses - SGT (Join to see), read the post that Sgt (Join to see) referenced.
I am curious about your trying to get it expunged - are you saying you were arrested on the civilian side for DUI but never prosecuted/convicted? If you WERE prosecuted/convicted, then on what grounds would you try to have your records expunged - expungement is generally only granted when you are acquitted; were arrested but not prosecuted; prosecuted but the charges were dismissed/dropped; or if it wasn't you that committed the offense in question (usually regarding identity theft).
There is no such thing as an expungement of a military court-martial records. It doesn't happen.

On or off base? Your last sentence makes no sense. You are a Sgt. You can recover, it will take hard work and dedication. It is a battle you deserve for being so callus with your life and the lives of others. You should see shame on the inside everytime you close your eyes as a reminder of how lucky you are not to be in jail for something much worse that a DUI.
Get your act together, be contrite, get help and move on.
