Hello,

I'm looking for some insight into my situation. I'm graduating AIT this Friday and I still have not received a sponsor. I've brought the issue up to my cadre and they've simply told me that there is nothing they can do about the situation to influence the process. I'm curious if this is going to have an impact on me pcsing to Fort Campbell, my family is already there waiting for me, it would be a bummer to be stuck here at Fort Sam due to paperwork issues.

Is there anything I can do to influence the situation, does it matter if I have a sponsor or not? I personally don't believe I even need a sponsor, this whole ordeal is frustrating.

Thank you guys.

I doubt you would be held over at JBSA until you have a sponsor. Not having a sponsor probably just means that you don't have a pinpoint assignment at Campbell. You'll go to the Repo Depot and get assigned from there.

Unless, you do have a pinpoint assignment at Campbell....then perhaps contact the unit Orderly Room and ask about the Sponsor you should have been given.

Thank you for the information Sergeant, you are correct my orders say that I'm going to 101st ar replacement and I have not received a specific unit at this time. I appreciate the insight and I hope things go smoothly.
Take care.

PV2 (Join to see) in moving forward in your time in the military, I'd like to pass on some education in regards to customs and courtesies when speaking with folks. When you are addressing someone via written comms (text, email, etc.), it would be best to address them by their rank abbreviation. In my case, you would use SFC. Not chastising you, I'm just providing helping info.

Your levy packet will tell you that you need a sponsor, but you really don't. HRC directed you to PCS so you will PCS. AIT Soldiers almost never actually get a sponsor because they get rerouted to different battalions when they arrive at their brigade.

BLUF: Sponsorship is not a showstopper. You most definitely will not be held just because you don't have a sponsor. The way sponsorship works is when you get put on assignment to a specific company, that 1SG gets notified through ACT. Once the 1SG gets notified they assign a sponsor from within their organization and you get emailed a welcome letter generated from the ACT system. Most arrivals get orders to the replacement company IOT be assigned to whatever BN/CO they will eventually get assigned to. Hope this answer helps and welcome to the Army team!

PCS isn't a go/no go status based on whether you have a sponsor. You will most likely PCS without incident and you will receive a sponsor once you are sent to a specific unit.

Ft Campbell has a “reactionary” sponsor program for this reason. When you arrive you will have 5-7 business days of inprocessing the installation before you are cut loose to your brigade. A lot of stuff goes on behind the curtain, such as looking at which units actually need 68W. So your orders might say 3BCT, but you end up going to 2BCT because 101st G1 does strength management.

You’ll be okay.
