keep in mind on this issue...he didn't stop the crime in progress, this was the day after.
and he didn't follow any type of due process or let/influence the local afghan police unit handle it - he just opened up a can of whoop dat ass cuz some guy pissed him off. Hooah.
One commenter on social media said he should be reinstated at double pay....that's E-14 pay. Hooah.

The "abuse" happen in the base, and the mother and the child asked for help, and they step in to warn and kick that bastard out of the base. It is the right thing to do.

And the world know it is wrong to separate him solely base on that.

Problem is that what the asshat who was beaten did was morally and legally wrong, but socially acceptable in their culture. The U.S. Soldier acted based on his own code of ethics. He had to know when he acted that there would be repercussions for his actions. He did it anyway. He put his moral code above the local culture. Furthermore, if I am not mistaken, isn't the Green Beret motto Free the Oppressed? If that is the case, what could be a more graphic sign of oppression than the forced rape of a child? Sorry, I think that he should not be separated based solely on this event.
