Is 25U AIT still teaching mostly outdated equipment and less skills that are transferable between different types of units ?

I remember the School NCOs telling us straight faced our AIT taught us little that we needed to know. They were right. Then again, though, every unit needs different skill sets of their 25U.

With the plan for the Army 2020-2025 everything is going to change again. Everything is going to become data centric vs today's network centric Army. With that being said no more platforms like CPOF, MCS, BFT. Users will be able to access everything from a data store on local machine. Just to skim the top of it.

I'm taking that as a "no." Sounds like security is going to become a bigger issue.

It forces everything to change from who we recruit, MOS requirements and structure, security will shift focus as we transition to wireless but no mor an issue than any other time. There will be much more coming out in the near future about this.

Cool. Sounds like new opportunities for contractor IT positions also.

I’m a 25U graduated early this year and most our training was them telling us we will learn it at our units. Me being in a aviation unit and telling everyone that got me a response with lots of laughs and then telling me I went to the wrong unit for that. I try my hardest to actually learn my mos but not a lot of things online and they have no need for me here.
