Has anyone actually received Continuation Pay under the BRS? If so, how did you apply for it?

Ive searched for success stories regarding individuals receiving continuity pay, but so far have found none. It seems its quite strange, as this seems to be a highlight for some to make the transition to BRS.

Sir,
ALARACT 014/2020 contains this years guidance on continuation pay, 2020 rates are in the link below; it appears to me that rates are currently being set based upon which component/service a Service Member is part of, the Amound of CP is much better for Reserve/National Guard Soldiers at this time.

There are a few people taking it, but it won't be common for a few years because the people who switched to the BRS mostly had less than 10 years in service. It's only been two or three years since anyone became eligible, and the very few people who were at 12 years for pay had reserve prior service and still had a long way to go for an active duty retirement. The BRS doesn't help those of us who would have missed the first 10 years of TSP matching.

That makes sense. I hope as it becomes more common that the information is more widely available on the finer details and process. Im sure theres a MILPER or some sort of document out there for it. Its a few years off for me but it would be interesting to see how others have fared with bonuses for their particular AOC/MOS.

CPT (Join to see) Career Counselors have the guidance for it, and S1Net released a guide for it as well. It's basically a piece of paper with three signatures on it that has to be turned in to finance prior to hitting the 12 year mark.

I found the guidance on this, essentially it is a one page .pdf, "CONTINUATION PAY STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING AND ELECTION". There are two signature blocks, one is yours and one is "Commander". The form must be signed by you, after you've elected in to BRS, but before your 12th anniversary PEBD. I did a deep dive and am currently fighting for it, I signed the form ONE DAY after my PEBD, and not one single person, not finance, not career counselor, not supervision, not commander, in my unit knows about Continuation Pay.

TSgt (Join to see) you're in the AF so your rules of when you can apply and how to apply are different
