I'm in the process of being referred to the Mayo Clinic for treatment. Actually, more like a guinea pig situation because the VA has finally accepted and agreed there is nothing they can do for me. I have questions about travel expenses. Until my disability claim goes through I can't afford to travel from Tennessee to Minnesota and pay for food and lodging there. Is there a way to have some of the expense paid upfront?

You need to be 30% or higher for the VA to even pay to go to a VA clinic.

I'm 60% service connected and working on 100%. I was poisoned by chemical exposure while on active duty. The VA is sending me to the Mayo Clinic because they have no treatment options. My only hope is a research hospital. However, you can still use VA healthcare and hospitals if you're not disabled.

PO3 Patricia Miner - Until my disability claim goes through. Your words. So your response to me changes a lot of what I said. If the VA is giving you a CCN referral, you will get travel pay, but only after the fact. There are 8 priority Groups for VA Healthcare. group 6 7 and 8 are space A.

SP5 Peter Keane You're right I should have worded it better. At 100% I would have no problem paying. At 60% I do.
