I was stationed there for flight school, so my time to explore was rather limited. The base is small without a ton to do in/around town; however, Pensacola and Destin are only a ~2 hr. drive, so the weekends are great for the beach.

Like others have mentioned, Rucker is small. It is surrounded by the towns of Enterprise, Ozark and Dothan which are also small with not much to offer. There are 5 lakes (with alligators) on post ranging from small to very large, and designated hunting areas. Only a few bars in town, which will always be packed with other SM's (which may be considered a good or bad thing). Panama City, Destin and Pensacola are all roughly 2 hour drives and good for day trips. An overnight stay is usually a must if travelling the four hours up to Atlanta. Obviously it's hot and humid. It's a good place to slow down if you're coming from a high ooptempo.

Great place to network and make connections for later in your career..
