Has anyone been stationed in or around the DC area, and can recommend a nice area to live in?

I am a military spouse and a Real Estate agent in the area. If you are not currently working with an agent - I would be more than happy to help you with your home buying process You can email me at [login to see] .

I am stationed on Quantico, and make weekly trips to DC, it's a great area and you will get way more house for your buck if you come south of dale city.

I have heard great things about the housing at Ft Belvoir. When I was at The Pentagon I lived up in the Bowie/Laurel MD area. Not in the "city" but close enough to get anywhere either DC or Baltimore.

Depends on what you consider reasonable. We have a townhouse, 2 BD, for 2250/mo. We pay more because we are right beside the metro. If you can get housing on Belvior - do it! The housing on post is nice!

Yeah. I know exactly where I am going to, unit and post wise. So since I have this much time to prepare, I would like to get it right for me and my family.
