I've never been there, but here is some likely and useful information in your writing: The Nez Percé tribe, properly pronounced as "Nay Pair-say," means Pierced Nose tribe in French. It was common centuries ago that the warriors and some of the women pierced their noses to distinguish themselves from neighboring Shoshone and Blackfoot Nations.

Unfortunately never been to either of them. Have visited Big Bend tho and found it to be super hot and dry in the summertime...

I have also been to the Eastern side of Mt Hood in Oregon and it is amazing the difference in climate and geology.

It's a pretty area. Although not exactly related to your project, Walla Walla, WA is nice for a visit.

Col Rebecca Lorraine - Also, don't expect a particularly warm reception on the reservation. I only had some interactions with them through work so it may be different for you but they were distant.

SGT David T. - Likewise at the Navajo Trading Post in Northern Arizona. I visited them in 1989 and they were most distant because of my skin color under a sunburned face from motorcycling in that area.
