Has anyone come up with a solution to upgrade to Windows 10 when you are warned about too low disk space?

When I recently tried to upgrade my SurfacePro 3 to Windows 10 from 8.1, I am being told I need 20GB available space. I even went so far as to move nearly all files to my clod storage or another networked device. I can't believe this is kicking my proverbial butt.

Sir, have you used a deep cleaner such as CCleaner, Cleanup, and SuperAnti-Spyware? I prefer Cleanup as it cleans more than just one account.

GySgt Bryan A. McGown "Gunny" - SSD's don't need be defragged because data is stored on chips, not a spinning platter. CCleaner only cleans one profile, not all. Seems if you need space that bad, a bigger HD is justified. I normally suggest backing up all data, wiping the HD, and reinstalling everything at least every few years, but that's not something you want to do when you need to meet deadlines.

Awesome reply! I'm learning something new everyday! Before you know it, they'll have cars that can drive and park themselves! ; )

GySgt Bryan A. McGown "Gunny" - Already do, sir. Google has a car and I believe there's another brand doing the same.

GySgt Bryan A. McGown "Gunny" - Several car manufacturers already have cars that do drive and park themselves. Tesla, Mercedes, GM, and several others have been working with them for years. Tesla was in the news recently for an accident involving the Autopilot in one of their cars.

This tidbit mentions some ways to free space and also trying to throw the old windows onto a usb storage, or even an sd (not preferred it says but I would think if you have a quality fast write SD laying around it would).

Upgrade Devices with less free disk space to Windows 10
Windows 10 will support systems with compressed installations. It can upgrade devices with as little as 8.5 GBs of free space, if you use a USB or SD.

Thank you, SPC James Harsh! I will DEFINITELY check this out. It's truly amazing that they (Microsoft) makes things so difficult. Love the products - hate their upgrade processes. Way too painful!
