I have been separated for 6 months now, and I have applied to probably 100s of locations where I feel my skills properly translate. I have come up short time after time. Anyone else having the same problem?

Many people do including me but were told that I was over qualified and would not stay with their company over and over and over again.

My lord, heard that Tim! It's rough, no doubt. Ten months looking for employment (even resulted to applying to places like Jiffy Lube, Walmart, etc) and wasn't getting hired on top of the positions I wanted and was more than qualified (tech positions, etc). I even got with four different temp agencies. They either could not match me, said I was over qualified or what have you. I felt like I had a damn felony on my record. I truly believe the whole "We Support Our Troops" that each business throws out is bullshit. I believe that whole 'lets hire vets' appeal with companies now is just a phase and allows their companies to look better and its truly just a fad; if that makes sense. It's all about who you know and what you can do for that company. Which, the latter makes perfect sense. It is rough, no doubt. Makes you think about those who aren't qualified or possibly illegal and getting jobs before veterans who served this country and who are transitioning back into LIFE. Makes one become bitter a bit, to be honest. Just touch up that resume, make your military section civilian friendly (wording, etc), network and network and hopefully something will snap into place.
