Has anyone encountered a SSG (11B) making the promotion list for SFC without the full 24 months of rated Squad Leader time?

Yes it is possible to be selected for promotion in any field without meeting commonly accepted requirements. The ore oats proceedings establishes board peramiters that determine th minimum standard for selection. As long as the Sokdiers records are eligeable for promotion. Thank you for your service.

Thank you for the feedback CSM. I did comb through the regulations carefully. The terms "should" and "recommended" are used frequently when referring to time in position, but nowhere does it state as a requirement. I certainly hope the board members consider the amount of success I've achieved in all other positions. Rated #1 in Recruiting and #1 as a Division Operations NCO above Senior NCO's.

If your records reflect your success you should be rewarded. Remember not to get discouraged, especially if you are below the zone (first time eligible). If you are selected below the zone, be humble as many around you who feel they are qualified will not feel good. Even some senior to you will feel as if you have not paid your dues. Either way, continue to take care of your Soldiers and your time will come. Thank you for your service.
