Has anyone ever been in a screaming match or any altercation with their superiors?

On a MOB AT for a deploying ARNG unit I got in a verbal altercation with my superior, he was an O3, I an E6. It probably didn't help that I had only two hours of sleep. I was part of the ADVON and he came down with the Main Body. One of my tasks was setting up a vehicle Land Nav Course, which I did the day before and validated all my points. After lights out, I still had a ton of stuff to do, including writing up the "test", hence why only two hours of sleep. The next morning, the O3 wanted to go through and validate all the points, I explained we didn't have time and the points had been validated the day before and the Land Nav was to start in 30 minutes. He still insisted and he got upset when I reiterated we didn't have time and he needed to learn to trust his NCOs. He got pretty upset and he started yelling. I actually thought we would come to blows. Things got heated and I told him if he wanted to validate points he should of been here the day before. This only made him madder. I almost told him to get the "f" out of my HMMWV, but held my breath and was able to regain my composure. I then asked "permission to speak frankly" to which the weasel said "no". At that point I told him we wasted too much time and need to get back as the Land Nav was starting soon and it was my exercise to run (and it was "my HMMWV).
Later that day, I got some great advice from the acting 1SG. He said to "never ask permission to speak frankly" but to ask "May we speak man-to-man?" The 1SG said it's hard to deny that request. I learned a lot that MOB AT and helped prepare me in my military career.

Had a chief (whom I didn’t get along with) tried to order me to help out another work center-after hours-not on duty. I let him know that I wasn’t on duty and he insisted that I go help a different work center do their work. Refusal turned into shouting which escalated to him removing his shirt and saying to me “Chain locker, now.” At the time, I was a 19 year old defensive lineman (intramural squad) and he was a 30-something Philippino man (small in stature). He was small, quick, and hit often. I was big, slower, and hit HARD. Needless to say, we both took an ass whooping that evening. Nothing came of it and we had an unspoken understanding for the rest of my time onboard.
I doubt you could get away with it in today’s snowflake environment.

Cost me my career! No violence nothing even cool, just reading the regs out loud on basic rifle marksmanship. Alt C vs pop up range.

The arguments with superiors during wartime were much shorter of duration when you moved your weapon in a certain manner. Especially with those damn butter bar Lt’s!

I hear you. At the start of my second life, the room mate in college told me I was going to have a hard time succeeding "Because you take shit from no one." Yeah, same rough ride, Brother.

I clocked a 2Lt once when I was PFC. I was on a field commo excersize getting ready for deployment snd had a 2 Lt that was brand new and thought he knew it all. I was running a 24 channel system with so high ranking brass talking across the channels. I was monitoring my equipment when i saw a hand come across my shoulder and resch for my tuner. I grabed him by the wrist and asked what he thought he was doing. He said my equipment was off frequency. I informed him that this equipment was older than dirt and did not operate like it was brand new and he insisted on fixing it for me. I told him a second time it was working fine and he reached for the dial again so I knocked him out of my coms truck right when my CO walked by. He asked what was going on so I told him the situation and my course of action. He then yold that 2 Lt to stay out of my coms because I apparently knew my job better that the 2Lt did.

I did once threaten bodily harm to a Warrant. He had just knocked a critical system off air because he violated SOP. (We were a LORAN station and were required to provide 99.98% availability of our signal.) He opened an equipment draw for inspection, which was a BS thing to do because our equipment was always spotless, and he knew it. The problem was he didn't check indicators or signs (we had both as a backup), before he did so and knocked us off air. After several minutes of scrambling to get everything back up and stabilized, which he just stood watching, I came back to the timer room. I looked at him and said calmly, "If you ever touch my equipment again without checking with me first, (I was senior tech, so technically it was my equipment), I'll kick your ass." Well needless to say I was on report before I finished with my log entries.
I talked to the Senior Chief I reported to and he said, "Let me deal with it, just keep your mouth shut." I did so, saying only "Yes sir, No sir" to the CO's questions at mast. The Skipper asked if anyone had anything to add. Senior Chief said, "I do sir, I would like to commend PO Dougherty for his restraint." Clearly puzzled, the Skipper said, "How do you figure that chief?" With a straight face, Senior Chief said, "If it had been me, I would have kicked his ass into next week." The CO shook his head and said, Mister XXXX I would like to have a word with you, Senior Chief, PO Dougherty, your dismissed, please close the door on your way out.
We obviously did not hear the following conversation, but Mr. XXXX never came into my spaces again alone, and he NEVER touched my equipment when he did.

I've been in so many pissing contests and shouting matches I wouldn't know where to begin.

What's worse, a seaman or a buck ensign? A buck ensign as the seaman has been promoted at least twice. LOL
Sometimes you got to give guidance and experience where there is none. This guy just sounded like an ass though. I had a Chief over my division that thought he would do something similar when my dad died and i had to hop a flight back from italy over a weekend. I called my nephew and told him to send a red cross letter to the command, next thing I know my CO is giving me a ticket and signed leave papers all filled out and asked if I had a ride to the airport. Bypassed him altogether.
