Has anyone ever been in a screaming match or any altercation with their superiors?

If your a leader there will come a point in time that this will happen some more than others. I know ive had my fair share but most were trying to protect the folks i was in charge of. Luckly cooler heads prevailed.

Yes and most of the time they are always right. They never want to hear you out.

I can think of few if any instances in the military where someone who is serving honorably would believe they could have even an argument with their leadership (so called or otherwise) and get away with it. It's one thing to disagree, good leaders embrace differences, but in the military sometimes you just have to suck it up and move on. Assuming everything is legal and no one is getting killed. If you feel strongly enough about your argument, go up the chain and see if they agree with you, let those above them handle the screaming. If they don't agree with you, either you're probably wrong of you have poor leadership. In the case of the latter, had you got into any sort of arguments that could be construed as insubordination they would likely back the superior and you would probably find yourself in a situation you really don't want to be in. Keep in mind we are talking about an argument and not a disagreement. The difference is an argument you don't back down whether your wrong or right, a disagreement you make your case and accept the outcome. Keep in mind you're in the military and although it may not happen consistently or as often as it should, you can still be court marshaled for insubordination, disrespect and for disrupting good order or discipline and the penalty could be death and imprisonment. No one wants to be made an example out of and you never know when they all of a sudden decide to enforce a rule or two, even if it happens all the time. Good luck!

Nice...Read my response for interpretation. Sometimes the chain is out-of-the-loop and I am guilty of making Sound and Timely decisions.

I was in Army basic and was in front leaning rest position for a long time, with my M14 on my wrists. The fella next to me put one one knee down. The Drill Sgt jumped on the M-14 with both feet breaking both wrists and the stock of the M-14. We had at least 6 suicides in the 8 weeks. Now we have 30-50 suicides nationally. I know why. It's down right pitiful.

THE ANSWERS YES; I HAD JUST ARRIVED ON STATION, STILL ON LEAVE. MY WIFE WITH OUR 4TH CHILD AT 7 MONTHS PREGNANT. SHE STARTED TO HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY WITH THE PREGNANCY. I ROUND UP THE 3 BOYS, AND HEAD TO THE BASE OBGYN. (I CALLED). WHEN I GOT THERE, I COULDN'T BRING MY BOYS EVEN INTO THE OFFICE AREA! I TOOK THEM BACK TO THE TRUCK CAMPER. TOLD MY OLDEST 9 TO WATCH THEM I'LL BE RIGHT BACK. LONG STORY SHORT, SOMEONE CALLED THE SP'S ON ME. BETWEEN GETTING MY WIFE SEEN TOO, AND TRYING TO GET BACK TO THEM. THE OSI WERE ALSO THERE, WITH MY FIRST SHIRT! YELLING AT ME ABOUT HOW IRRESPONSIBLE I WAS! THREATENING TO TAKE STRIPES FROM ME. I HADN'T EVEN BEEN ON STATION FOR 24 HOURS YET!! I WAS REALLY MAD, WHEN I GET MAD I GET QUITE. THEN MY FIRST SHIRT YELLING AT ME, IF I DIDN'T START TALKING HE WOULD HAVE MY ENGLISH WIFE DEPORTED!!! WELL I LOST IT! NO ONE THREATENS MY FAMILY. I YELLED BACK AT HIM, SAYING "WITH ALL DO RESPECT TO YOUR RANK AND POSITION, IF YOU CARRY OUT THAT THREAT, YOU'LL HAVE HELL TO PAY!!" WE WERE NOSE TO NOSE AT THAT POINT! I LATER APOLOGIZED TO MY SQUADRON COMMANDER FOR MY ACTIONS, AND HE HAD THE CHIEF APOLOGIZE TO ME. LETS JUST SAY THAT WASN'T A GREAT STATION TO BE AT FOR THE NEXT 3 YEARS AFTER THAT!.

Yes, in Nam, a new LT called my squad out for rifle inspection. I was first as the squad leader, he said my rifle was rusty, I said No Sir the M16 doesn't rust it may discolor , but not rust, this went on a while, my squad was laughing thier butts off, cause I was arguing with the Lt, it became a shouting match, finally he agreed with me. I told the 1sgt about it and he said color it with pencil it will look fine. Semper Fi

Once with my XO in Germany! I was a boxer and in the middle of a match! When the bell rang to end the third round and I went back to my corner my XO stepped up and started yelling at me but not in anger but encouragement! I started yelling back and it got pretty rambunctious! We were both nearly laughing by the time he stopped!

Well, it's like getting physical with the cops. Even if you win you're ultimately gonna lose, because any other outcome is unacceptable for them. It's a nice fantasy, though.

In Hood had an LT stuck me on top of a white rock hill in MOPP 4 in 100°+ After about 30 minutes my water was to hot to drink. Needless to say I had a heatstroke. Then he tried to give me an article 15. He told me in front of the Colonel. Luckily Tops was there. He knew me pretty good and grabbed me before I could reach him. After the Colonel heard the whole truth he gave the LT an article 15 instead of me. The rest of my 2 years were pure hell. Right after my separation I caught the LT away from Base and we had our long waited conversation! My buddies said after that he was a completely different person. I guess maybe he learned a lesson.

Well there was one time that I as a lowly ET-3 told a CWO-4 that if he touched my equipment again without checking with me I would apply my size 11 to his seat of correction. Yes, it was my equipment in that as senor tech I was responsible for it's operation. For context, we were expected to maintain a 99.95% signal availability, and his carelessness cost me several minutes of downtime on what had, until then, been a perfect month. And yes, I soon saw standing before a Captains Mast. My Senior Chief saved my crow though when he spoke on my behalf saying "PO Dougherty, in my opinion, showed remarkable restraint." "How so Chief?" "We Sir, if it had been me, I would have kicked his ass."
Case was dismissed, and we were told to leave, but the CWO was asked to remain. Scuttlebutt had it that the CO had some sharp words with him. All I can say for sure is he never again "inspected" my equipment without clearing it with me or the tech on duty.
