I had a falling out with my Chief in the Flag Passageway due to him not knowing what was going on in Flag Admin. He was the type that would come in for morning quarters and then spend the rest of the day in the Chief's Mess. We learned that it was best to let hi stay there. As LPO I made sure everything was covered and the office functioned smoothly. One day the COS passed him and asked him a question. Not knowing what the COS was talking about the Chief stopped me in the passageway and started berating me. I told him we should not talk about it the passageway. He stuck a finger in my chest and said he wanted an answer now. I went off on him screaming about his inability to lead and that if he wants to talk to me he better know what he is talking about. All of a sudden the door flew open and the Admiral stepped out and asked what the hell was going on his passageway. I yelled back at the Admiral to ask his Chief since he seems to knows everything that is going on, especially in the Chief's Mess. At that point the COS came out of his office and directed the Chief into the Admirals Office and me into his. I got the ass chewing I deserved. Come to find out the COS had heard about the Chief always out of the office. The day that I transferred the Chief took me out for a steak and beer lunch and we had a long talk and left on good terms. Don't know whatever happened to him.

Specialist, that kind of conduct would never happen. How in Slicky Brennan's AOR can we demand appropriate military protocol and bearing if we are not wrapped tight enough to render the same respect. We do not always agree with our bosses, but God and the President gave them more gold than I've got and made them responsible for the whole ship. All I have is being the First Lieutenant, which is an awesome job, but not like the Captain's.

Not a screaming match. However, the day my supervisor call my previous supervisors terrible leaders and scum bags, I replied "welcome to the club". Word got around and found out he took a LOR for making the initial comment.

Yep, me personally and others. My personal heated interaction was in Baghdad Iraq of all places in a driving a HUMVEE headed to BIAP. My squad leader decided to start yelling at me over some BS that wasn't even a big deal and got fed up and went off. I told him under no uncertain terms that is wasn't a big deal and to stop F*CKING yelling at me. I'd had enough of his BS.

The one I heard some of through a closed door was at Ft Wainwright AK between a SPC and 1st Sgt. Our 1st Sgt wanted the SPC to go to PLDC and the SPC wasn't having any part of it. Needless to say 1st Sgt didn't take kindly to it and the SPC didn't take kindly to the 1st Sgt not taking his refusal well. The yelling was so bad the whole command hallway heard it and some were concerned it was going to turn physical. Fortunately it didn't and as far as I know the SPC didn't go to PLDC right away like he was wanted to.

Not yelling no. When the yelling starts the listening stops. I have been slapped. I have been cut by my chai of command. The slap I deserved in my own opinion so I took no action. The cut though got me evaluated for homicidal thoughts. That went no where.
My mom died while I was on leave after deployment. My leave got extended to attend the funeral. The acting 1SG did this when 1SG actual said he wouldn’t have approved it. No we never got along.
I was an Sergeant with 15 years. I wouldn’t have done this to any soldier. I never had to put hands on my soldiers. I figured if it came down to that I should have already started the paperwork for chapter. Which I actually did only a few times. What he did was wrong. That should have been the beginning of his relief for cause. Demotion and chapter. In fact he should have taken you to AER if you couldn’t afford the ticket or if it would have caused a hardship. The only thing I would have asked for so I could get the emergency leave approved would have been a Red Cross message. This way you wouldn’t have been charged leave either. Told you to keep in touch so I can keep the chain of command off your back. These actions happen no matter my opinion of you. I will be fair and impartial. That’s why it’s in the creed. So I hope you read this and apply it should you ever get to be a SERGEANT not an e5.

In private, not public, ask permission to speak freely than TACTFULLY tell him he's nucking futs. Happened a few times with uppers that were out of touch with the "on the ground guys". A good super would take your comments under advisement, reevaluate, and change course.
