I walked away from a Major who was in the middle of reading me out. I was an E-5 11C National Guardsman coming to pick my men up from a local bar near Pinion Canyon (the squad was not welcome and about to get trounced by locals) a major pulled up with a bus and started to read me about being drunk in public and a disgrace etc. I tried to tell him I was there to handle the problem, not a part of it, but no joy. As he’s peeling strips off me I notice my guys slinking into the humvee. So, when he tells me to get on the bus and goes into the bar, I just jumped in the hummer and drove back to our area. My First Sergeant had been contacted before I got back to our bivvy and I was ripped down to E1 on the spot

YEPPERS... I was an SGT E-5 in DISCOM "deployed" to NTC. I and a MAJ from a supporting brigade got into a heated argument. He put me at parade rest and it took every bit of military bearing not to clock him with the flashlight I was holding. It was an argument about respect, he felt we lowly enlisted weren't deserving of the same respect his officers deserved. For me, it wasn't about rank rather just normal human respect... I am glad now that I didn't lose my bearing.
I had at least two maybe three incidents with a Platoon SGT while I was an SPC in Hawaii. The day I was to get married, which everyone knew about and I tried to put for a day of leave for it but was told I didn't need too, told me the day of I couldn't take time to get married at the courthouse. So I asked for just enough time to go get married and come back. Again was told no, so then I laid into verbally which of course backfired. I was in the Infantry and we had no training, no special formation or anything planned for this day. If I wasn't getting married I would have been in the barracks with my platoon playing Nintendo.

@ my first duty station.
A Spc5 "got on my last nerve," in front of my dept & unable to hold my tongue, I freely & loudly released a tirade at him while probably red faced as The Devil. I don't believe my squad has seen anything like this before or after. I went straight instinctively to my native 1st language, Hebrew. Ever hear Ricky screaming @ Lucy? Probably looked something like that.
Well, after calmer heads prevailed he insisted in knowing what was said. In front of the squad, I advised him there wasn't a clear translation, but it did include a curse.
He asked, what was the curse?
I advised: "That ALL his children should look like him."
He responded, "How is that a curse,? That's a good thing."
I ended it with: " Go look in the mirror." I don't know if they ever laughed so hard in their lives?

I only had one row with my captain. My (now ex) wife contacted the grade chaplains office because I had not sent her the paperwork to get her dependents I.D. card. I was still in nxt at the time. My CO chewed me out for not sending it to her. After he finished, I asked for permission to speak, and I told him what was going on. I let him know that she had never sent me a certified copy of our marriage license and that I had requested it several times. He apologized for what he said to me and got on the phone to my ex father in laws squadron commander and got my ex father in law on the phone, who at that time was a senior chief in the Navy on the phone and read him the riot act for upsetting the Apple cart. He told him that if he ever contacted the base chaplains office again concerning me, and it was not an emergency that he would do whatever it took to either have him busted in rank or kicked out of the Navy.
But long story short, I received at mail call roughly a week later a certified copy of my marriage license in the mail.

As a newly promoted SPC in the National Guard I was a range safety and I cursed out a SSG for flagging. I ended up in front of the 1SG's desk for it. Luckily, I was only yelled at for "disrespecting the title of SSG" in his words. I'm sure he could of done more but I'm also pretty sure I know why he didn't.

Have a couple of those, one was fairly recently ( civilian) now. My Chief wanted to do something that violated safety regs as well as his and everyone elses safety. Politely told him this isnt going to happen not while i am here. He backed off, 10 min later he calls me in to his office along with another civand statts in that o dont have his back etc. tried explaining to him why and kept getting cut off. Final straw came when i stated as soon as he has approval from wing safety to do hi stunt then id shut up. He slams his fist down on the desk and sxares the crap out of the other guy who was wondering what he was ther for anyway, statts berating me and the other guy jumps up and says im out of here. I did chuckle and that probably wasnt exactly right, but it was funny. I tell him to leave as im his supervisor, and calmly tell the E9 that this is the end of discussion and his stunt will not happen while im here, last thing i need is an accident by you being investigated.
This was AF and the E9 was weak as water but wanted to try and grandstand for a bit. It was kind of fun at the time, i knew i had regs and common sense behind me and he had only a ‘good idea’ fairy to lean on

Guilty. I was taking a replacement part out to install on a mobile generator set. But the generator had been sent out without the part. I was putting the part back into the supply hold bin, when the NCOIC (E9) stopped me and asked me why I was doing that. He wasn't calm about it. He pulled the piss me off pin on my temper grenade. Well one word led to another, and you could hear us shouting over the noise of the shop, the taxing C-130s and a generator being run up for testing. Everyone stopped their work, looked at us and waited for the heavy weight boxing match to begin. Fortunately the assistant NCOIC and the supply sgt stepped in between us and clamed things down. They explained to the E9, that I was doing the right thing and that was policy to do just that. Things settled down, we both apoligied and respected each other's rank and experiences.

Not really a screaming match, as I don’t generally scream, but I’ve been in a few altercations with folks who outranked me. Years ago, when I was an S1 NCOIC in an armor battalion, I had an HHC XO who decided working in the motor pool took priority over keeping the S1 open and also decided he was going to make sure HHCs personnel actions would take precedence over the other company’s, since I and my personnel were assigned to HHC. I decided the best way to manage my shop was to send half the office (3 guys) to the motorpool and the other half would keep the office open, as we only had one 2 1/2 ton, for which we were responsible. I also decided to keep the personnel action priority as it was, because the Bn CSM had already blessed off on it. The HHC XO took exception to both decisions and I politely informed him I had a responsibility to the entire battalion and not just HHC. We went round and round for about ten minutes, with me continuing to calmly support my position and him getting more and more irate. We eventually ended up in the Bn XOs office, who after hearing both sides, told us to get out of his office and settle things ourselves. I continued to stand my ground and he finally gave up.

The other memorable time was at BNCOC, participating in the FTX. The SGL was not very proficient when it came to tactical operations, and decided he would drop an artillery simulator right in front of my battle buddy and I (about three feet in front of us). After we got out from seeking cover, I cornered him, confiscated all the pyro he had left, and told him if he wanted any employed, he would come to me and I’d employ it. I could see in his eyes that he realized he’d screwed up and he didn’t argue about it.

Yes, while in USAF stationed at K.I Sawyer AFB, doing a G.I party cleaning the AIrcrew Life Support shop, Buck Sgt David Dion told me too clean the latrine (he didnt like me because I wasnt a white supremacy idiot like him), when i was finished NCOIC told me too help another Airman buff the floors, when Sgt Dion seen I was running buffer he went off on me in front of the other Airman and when I didnt back down (I was A1C) it made him more upset, possibly because he knew I didnt respect him, and he threatened too take me into the office for some “Wall to Wall counseling”, during the incident, the Airman that witnessed everything went and found the NCOIC and I ended up with an LOR for insubordination but Sgt Dion ended up going to Correctional Custody (he had a huge file due too issues he created during his enlistment) for the threats he made, and thats where he stayed while USAF Outprocessed him and put together his dishonorable discharge
