Has anyone ever been in a unit where it was nearly impossible to take leave because your section was really short handed?

Got them cancelled (after approval) holiday leave blues. Had plane tickets and everything before the submission deadline. Anyone have stories they'd like to share?

Was going home to my father's wedding in the summer of 15. Ticket in hand and at battalion to sign out. My leave packet want there. ( when I physically saw the approval signatures from co and 1st sgt ) called my and asked if he knew anything.he said that they cancelled my leave because they weren't going to meet the percentage of available soldiers during our QRF rotation. Which was our turn 2 days prior to when I'd return.

In Air Force Security Forces (police) a lot of time it can be damn near impossible to take leave. If you work back office, you'll get all the leave and time off you want but if you work the road it is a very real struggle to get even a few days off.
