I am PCSing and my daughter has an appointment set up at the new children's hospital prior to my report date. I am going out early to get daycare and everything set up before I sign in. The nurse there mentioned I should have a referral in prior to the appointment so TRICARE doesn't send me a bill.

I talked to the nurse case manager for pediatrics at the new hospital on base. She said there is an option for a one time consult during PCS from the soon to be old PCM to cover anything needed during the PCS. I sent that to the NCM at my daughter's current doctor. She said she talked to Patient Advocate at TRICARE who said that's wrong. That I have to set up an appointment at the new base hospital and they do the referral. The NCM at the new hospital said they can't do anything for her until I in process and am assigned there.

Has anyone else dealt with this?

It sounds like you are PCSing between tricare regions. Each region is run by different HMOs and has different rules. To add to the confusion, those regions change responsibility from time to time meaning your doctors are sometimes working under old guidelines in a new regime m
