I made the transition. I was a Combat Engineer, Infantry, and a Medic then went in.

Has anyone here on RP made the transition from the Army to the Coast Guard?

It's been a while and I know it has happened. I've seen enlisted that have transition but never Officers but I can't say it has never happened. Call a recruiting office to find out.

I'm seeing my current obligation through, so it would be like joining the CG with prior service. I'm interested in anyone's experience with the process

I transitioned from army to navy while enlisted, then commissioned while in service. There are always a lot of hoops to jump through, most branches figure you got out for a reason and for them to invest in re-developing you they'll look for some reassurance you're a likely long term investment. I was lucky enough to screen for a significantly under manned job and then was asked to leave early instead of what some of the others I met had received

I Went to A school with two AF transfers. they said the only had to go to training for Rank and differences in ops between services. Two weeks. Not like Boot. But that was the 70's

I don't know about Army to CG, but we had a Navy Corpsman go CG. He had to do some initial training (boot camp of sorts), but basically just walked right into it.

Sorry, my entire career was USCG. I do know others have successfully made the transition.
