Has Anyone recently been selected (or not) into the WOFT program?
Just curious how your board evaluation went, and what you’d recommend for anyone going in the near future. Any tips on the packet would be welcomed too!

I was selected at the WOFT board last month. My only recommendations ATT would be work your butt off in every possible area to separate yourself from fellow applicants and study hard for the SIFT. That test is not a joke AT ALL. I scored a 53 after about 3 weeks of studying but I honestly don't know that studying for a longer period would've helped any. It's something different from anything you've seen, I guarantee it. What are your questions?

Yeah I took the SIFT, tough test!
I have all of my LORs but I’m working on getting a CW4 or 5 to help me “separate” myself. Just wondering if I have a shot honestly, I have a 283 Pt score, got a 48 on my SIFT, pretty good LORs rn, and a couple of ASI Schools under my belt. Anything you think you did to ensure you got in?

CW2 (Join to see) Honestly, the things I believe contributed most were:
1-290 APFT
2-Well connected CW4 LOR
3- 52 college credits with 4.0 GPA
I think those held the most weight, but of course we don't get an AAR..I do have 2 Afghanistan deployments, 4 NCOERs (no top blocks), OUTSTANDING LORs, only 1 additional from my CHOPS (MAJ) downrange, schools include Raven Operator, Space Cadre, 80hr SHARP Cert, TIOPC, and some typical Army courses. I was also Promotable by the time I submitted my packet, which shows up on my ERB, so that could've influenced the board's decision but I don't know for sure.

CW2 (Join to see) I would suggest having multiple COs and WOs review every sentence you wrote. From what I hear, writing and literacy matter a lot. I made my packet read like an English professor wrote it.

I was selected on the last board as well. Your resume is the bread and butter. You have to put the time in to get it right, it’s not something you can just rush through. Submit the packet all they can tell you is NO.

Literacy on your resume and summary apparently matter a LOT a LOT. They look at all of that. Also that’s the place you can get to explain yourself and why you deserve it more than a 1SG or SSG or a brand new Pfc. My APFT score was garbage and I talked about how my unit was ready for the ACFT and my ACFT score. I also worked my ass off to get my private pilots license while I was at fort drum and I think that was a big reason as to why I was selected. If you could maybe get your first solo for your private if that’s something you’re interested in I hear that’s weighs a lot. Either that and/or have college credits.

Thanks man, I appreciate the insight. I’ll definitely look around for a flight school now.
