I called it the other day to Complain about being belittled by my PCP at the VA. i was Told and i quote " If you cant lose weight on your own, Ill encourage you by tapering you Off all your Narcotics "( Lortab and Xanax) . Followed by the comment " I am not a drug dealer, And I wont be Your drug dealer" This was very belittling to me and condescending . Not sure if calling the Complaint line will do any good or not. Any one have any Ideals? I have complained to the Local Patient advocate which did no good and have tried to get a appointment with Chief of staff at local VA. Which with everything going on i have not been successful at all.

Hello, fellow veterans, I saw this post and it does raise many questions.
Like under normal circumstances the VA is seriously lacking in proficiency.
My primary care doctor canceled my appointment to go on vacation, My dentist
scheduled my appointments so far apart and does little when I do they do the bare minimum to justify their paychecks, in turn, they are letting my teeth rot out. My dentures no longer fit right.
What the Hell are we the veterans paying these people for? I wrote a blank check to the Government when I was 18 years old with my life and was promised if I made it home Medical care would be provided. I am 100%SC and have been for 24 years. The VA needs to spend more on veteran patient
care than on million-dollar paintings on the walls of the VA clinics. More timely appointments and results that benefit the veteran.

Without knowing your full story, I have to question what losing weight and curbing pain meds have to do with one another.
There certainly seems to be a ethical issue if what you're saying is the case.
I would go ahead and use the VA's compliant process. To include the White House complaint line. In addition, you also have the right to make a complaint via the state medical board.
At the very least, I would request to change PCP's or even CBOC's if that's an option.

I would drop it, and I am not sure why this warrants a RallyPoint post. The VA and our country have enough to contend with now and in the future.

It is posted as a Question Sgt. And I am sure if it had happen to you, you would not want to sweep it under the rug. But that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. As am I.

SPC Ray Blaylock I thought that asking questions was the main reason for RP but I could be wrong. I broke my back in 79 in a bulldozier accident and have had 8 lumbar surgeries and 1 cervical surgery. I was scheduled for my second cervical surgery in April but it was cancelled until late May due to this virus.
I quit using the VA for all my pain meds since the mess in Michigan where they were giving out oxycodone 30's like they were Tic Tac's. Anyway on my last lumbar surgery I was in considerable pain due to all the previous failed surgeries and built up scare tissue. I finally found the doctor I needed for my complex surgery and he was right here in my home town. I did'nt have to fly to some other state for the "BEST" doctor for my condition. I was denied treatment by the VA because this surgery was too expensive. I finally sent a letter to The White House and 9 months later I was approved for surgery. I had a complex surgery called an "Oblique Interbody Lumbar Fusion with stem cells. You can google it.
The same doctor did my cervical surgery but the VA would not approve all that he wanted to do and he warned them that I would need future surgery if they did not allow it. Well low and behold the two other disc's he predicticted would collapse did so. And now I have to have it redone with additional plate's. Good luck Ray.
